It was a glorious Melbourne day out at Huntingdale Golf Club yesterday for the Australian Masters Pro Am.  I was fortunate enough to receive an invitation again this year, so was excited to be back in Melbourne for it.  I have been in the US for the past couple weeks putting on the Cricket All Stars (more on that to come), so it was literally a case of hitting the ground running.  I was pretty tired after the 15hr long haul flight, getting in at 8:30am, but after a quick run home for a shower and change I was ready to go.

I was paired up with former Masters Champion Rod Pampling, my old mate Sammy Newman and Daniel – who had generously bid on the prize at one of The Shane Warne Foundation’s charity auctions.  My first shot off the tee was ok, particularly considering I’d just gotten off a plane, and I managed to put in a pretty decent round.

I actually felt like a struck the ball pretty well, and managed to sink a few crowd pleasers as well – sinking some long putts for birdie.  The Melbourne sun was shining and it was a great day all-round.  Rod gave me a couple jewels of wisdom that helped me get a few home as well, so that was great.  He’s a great bloke and I wish him all the best of luck in the Masters this weekend.  He knows what it takes, and was hitting them pretty well so anything’s possible.  Funnily enough – we were actually on the same flight back from LA, as he is living in Dallas now and flew in for the Masters.

I’m playing more golf than I used to, but not as much as I’d like to be.  At one stage a few years ago I had my handicap down to 7, but am now hitting off 10.5.  Hopefully, I’ll get some time over the Australian summer to get out and have a decent crack at getting it back down in the single digits.
